Overview

FULL TIME $62,400 - $77,250/year equivalent

Position Objective

In collaboration with the Vice President, Program Ministries and the Program ministries team, the Director of Family Ministries serves as the primary director overseeing all family-centric MHA-sponsored camps and conferences in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct.

 

The Director of Family Ministries is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats. All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching. 

 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Provide visionary and operational leadership to the family ministries department at MHA. This would include serving as the program director for MHA’s summer family camps as well as 4-6 family-centric camps in the non-summer months.
  • Coordinate all program activities of MHA Summer Family Camp. This would include working as the primary liaison with other departments at MHA to ensure all summer program activities are staffed and executed with excellence. 
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the development of all curriculum and materials used by children and students ages 0-18 for summer family camps.
  • Work closely with the Youth and Children’s program departments to develop different themes and curriculum for summer camps as well as non-summer family and student focused events.
  • Work closely with the summer Chief of Staff position to provide leadership and required training for the approximately 100 summer staff positions at MHA Conference Center.
  • Work closely with HR and summer staff hiring managers to be involved in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of summer staff positions.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising Family Ministries year round staff, summer staff, Chief of Staff, and additional staff during the summer.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum College degree, seminary degree preferred. 

Work Experience

  • Camp/conference center experience is required.
  • Conference and event planning is required. 
  • Experience in developing event themes as well as prop/set design preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a ministry setting preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to lead others
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with an ability to see things through to completion.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a professional manner.

Physical Demands

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Position requires walking, and climbing up/down stairs and ladders. Additional requirements include sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling, hearing, and grasping.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Beliefs, Culture Code and Standards of Conduct.
  • Must have a clean driving record of at least three years, and agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
