    Regular Part-Time 20-35 Hours Weekly


    Position Objective:


    The Coordinator is responsible for programming and operation coordination of the Child Care and Day Camp programs and facilities for family camps sponsored by Mount Hermon and selected guest groups in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.  Position also provides support to non-summer weekend children’s events and development of Redwood Camp program.


    Key Job Accountabilities:


    • Review and hire summer and part-time applicants  within established parameters.
    • Work collaboratively with Director of Children’s Ministry and Human Resources.
    • Oversee supervision, orientation, training and scheduling of staff.
    • Work with supervisor in developing Child Care Day Camp and Special Needs budget and stay within budgetary guidelines.
    • Promptly fulfill various organizational and legal administrative requirements.
    • Manage direct reports’ timecards and paperwork in accordance with MHA  policy (as well as your own).
    • Develop and/or select  age-oriented curriculums: theme, Bible stories, songs, crafts, etc., for camps in conjunction with Family Camp Director.
    • Regularly maintain Child Care and Day Camp Manuals, as well as tracking our 1-on-1 special need campers.
    • Inventory and implement parent info. sheets, sign-in/out sheets, counts sheets, etc. for programs. Inventory and purchase supplies: paper, crafts, food, diapers, bubbles, etc.
    • As requested and available, participate in Program and Administrative meetings.
    • Additional duties as directed by Supervisor.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    Family Camp Children’s Ministry Coordinator oversees summer staff, seasonal and part-time staff, as needed.



    General Qualifications:

    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon’ Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

    Education and Certifications:


    • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or Certificate from an accredited university or college, preferably with major work in Education, Childhood Development, Children’s Ministry or a related field, or equivalent experience of at least three years demonstrating increasing leadership and proficiency in the areas of responsibility.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid CPR and First Aid cards.

    Work Experience:


    • Experience operating a Child Care Program, Day Camp program and/or facility including scheduling and implementation of programs for elementary age (or younger students) is preferred.
    • Experience developing and maintaining collaborative and respectful working relations with staff members of all levels and others in providing quality programs.
    • Experience in leadership in children’s ministry in a church or school environment.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • Familiarity with computers and software and use of modern office equipment.
    • Ability to effectively interact and cooperate with others, demonstrating initiative and ability to follow-through with tasks.
    • Competent in teaching, leading and training staff in areas of responsibilities.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively one-to-one, as well as with small and large groups.
    • Ability to delegate and mobilize team effort.
    • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
    • Must be detail-oriented.
    • Ability to manage paperwork, timecards, and a host of other administrative tasks.
    • Ability to maintain clear and prompt communication (checking and responding appropriately and timely to work emails).
    • Display good teamwork skills as we are a multi-faceted entity that is part of a greater whole (represent MH and the need to adhere to policies and procedures set in place for all MH departments and employees).

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands:

    • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead.
    • Ability to walk up and down flights of stairs.
    • Visually able to observe child safety.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:

    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements. 
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
