    Casual Part-Time 0-40 Hours Weekly


    Position Objective:


    The Master Teacher is responsible and accountable for helping to care for pre-school children and supporting the pre-school teachers in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


    Key Job Accountabilities:


    • Work together with the teachers and staff as needed to maintain a safe and secure environment.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly environment by cleaning classrooms and bathrooms daily.
    • Prepare snacks and lunches for children.
    • Assist in planning, preparing and executing the daily learning activities.
    • Use industry standards and approved techniques for classroom management/hygienic practices.
    • Take responsibility for specific areas of the program.
    • Use “Positive Discipline” techniques such as redirection with the children as needed.
    • Meet with parents to discuss their children’s progress and needs after discussing with the Director.
    • Select, store, order and inventory classroom equipment and supplies.
    • Assist Director with staff and parent meetings, planning curriculum, hiring staff, staff development and parent conferences.
    • Attend all school programs, fundraisers and parent meetings.
    • Submit work orders as needed if Director is not available.
    • Other duties as assigned by Director.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    • Act as Director when Director is off property.
    • Supervise, evaluate and plan assignments for teachers, assistants and volunteers.


    General Qualifications:


    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.



    • BS or BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Child and Adolescent Development OR AA in ECE with 4-plus years of experience at MHA Play School.
    • Current certifications in Infant/Pediatric CPR, First Aid and verification of the 15-hour CPR/First Aid, Health and Safety training requirement.

    Work Experience:


    • 2 years’ documented experience with pre-school children (50 days of 3+ hours per day within 2 years).


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • Ability to direct and supervise teachers, assistant teachers and volunteers.
    • Familiarity with “Positive Discipline” techniques.
    • Aptitude for and interest in working with children.
    • Strong sense of safe practices when working with children.
    • Ability to effectively facilitate conflict resolution with children.
    • Ability to care for basic hygienic needs of children.
    • Ability to provide cleaning for facilities.
    • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
    • Excellent verbal communications skills with both children and staff.

    Additional Requirements:


    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must provide documentation of current immunizations of measles, pertussis and TB.
    • Must provide transcripts of college work, seminars, extra training, etc.
    • Must be fingerprinted by Live Scan.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
