    Position Objective

     

    The Human Resources (“HR”) Assistant will assist the Recruiting Specialist, the HR Coordinator and the Director of Human Resources by providing administrative support for all aspects of the human resources function, with priority being given to the recruiting, application and hiring process for all MHA staff, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

     

    Key Job Accountabilities

     

    • Assist with recruiting, application and employment processes, including interacting and collaborating with hiring managers, applicants, and outside organizations.
    • Assist in the process of obtaining and retaining applicant references in compliance with applicable labor laws.
    • Facilitate background investigations and reference checking for applicants in compliance with the FCRA.
    • Assist with on-boarding activities and other HR administrative functions as requested.
    • Assist Recruiting Specialist in establishing a Summer Staff recruiting schedule and with coordinating the associated details.
    • Assist in processing and tracking applications using required technology.
    • Train others in the use of the online recruiting and applicant-tracking platform.
    • Participate in college recruiting trips as needed.
    • Attend all staff meetings, events and retreats.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    General Qualifications:

    Education:

     

    • Minimum high school diploma; some college desirable.

    Work Experience:

     

    • 1-3 years’ administrative/clerical experience essential.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required in an HR setting.
    • Strong organization and administrative skills required.
    • Proficiency with MS Office and Google applications; familiarity with an HRMS a plus.
    • Aptitude for learning new software and database applications.
    • Ability to manage a busy and demanding workload efficiently.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and follow through.
    • Ability to interact with others in a friendly and professional manner while under stress.
    • Ability to concentrate and focus in a busy and sometimes noisy atmosphere.
    • Ability to troubleshoot basic office machines, including printer, scanner, and copier.

    • Ability to talk and hear.
    • Ability to sit for long periods in front of a computer screen.
    • Ability to use hands and reach with hands and arms.
    • Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces, stairs and hilly terrain.

    Additional Requirements/Skills:

     

    • Ability to travel <10%.
    • Ability to work extended hours and occasional evenings and weekends during the summer staff hiring season (generally May and June).
    • Vacation blackout between May 1 and June 15.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
