    Casual Part-Time 0-40 Hours Weekly 

     

    Position Objective:

     

    The Cook I is responsible for assisting the Cook II and Lead Cook in preparing high quality and nutritious meals in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

     

    Key Job Accountabilities:

     

    • Assist Cook II and Lead Cook prepare meals by specified mealtime deadlines.
    • Follow direction to ensure consistent flavor and quality.
    • Prepare amounts indicated on production sheets to prevent waste.
    • Follow all safe food handling practices.
    • Present the food to the guests in an eye-appealing manner.
    • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

     

    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

    Qualifications

    General Qualifications  

     

    Ability to respect the Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

     

    Education/Certifications/Licenses:

     

    • High School Grad or equivalent.

    Work Experience:

     

    • Minimum one year of food service experience.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to communicate in English.

    • Knowledge of basic math for recipe conversion.
    • Ability to use basic kitchen utensils.
    • Self-directed with ability to work without constant supervision.
    • Ability to remain calm in high-energy kitchen setting.

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands:

     

    • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday.
    • Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
    • Ability to use a variety of kitchen tools, equipment and utensils, including sharp objects.
    • Ability to see, hear and speak.

    Additional Requirements:

     

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
    • Possession of or ability to obtain a California food handlers card.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
