    Casual Part-Time 0-40 hours weekly

     

    Position Objective

     

    The Salad Preparer position will support the Salad Lead with preparation of cold food products to offer high quality food products and service to Conference Center guests in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

     

    Key Job Accountabilities

     

    • Work with Salad Lead by example to promote good work ethics and excellence in the workplace.
    • Collaborate with salad staff to promote cleanliness and organization of pantry areas; ensure compliance with cleaning and sanitation schedule to maintain overall food safety, appearance, and quality.
    • In the absence of Salad Lead, direct the activities of Kitchen Assistants in all aspects of cold food (fruit, salads) preparation; organizing the work to run smoothly and efficiently.
    • Follow the production schedule of supervisory staff and maintain MHA food service standards of appearance to present guests with fresh fruits and salads.
    • Review weekly production sheets as directed by Salad Lead to understand menus.
    • Complete prep and set up products for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room, as well as for breaks and special events.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

     

    Lead shifts as necessary in the absence of Pantry Lead.

    Qualifications

    General Qualifications

     

    Ability to respect the Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statements of beliefs. Of strong moral character and integrity.

    Education

     

    High School Graduation or equivalent.

    Work Experience

     

    Some basic kitchen experience.  

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrated willingness to use sound judgment concerning taste, palatability, and aesthetics of food quality. Seek input from the Food Service management to maintain the vision of the Food Service Department.
    • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
    • Adaptable, self-motivated, with a high energy level.
    • Ability to train others in methods of food preparation.
    • Ability to cooperate within a team to finish products on time and with a high standard of excellence.
    • Ability to communicate in English with other team members, both verbally and in writing.
    • Good communication skills, ability to work well with others and maintain a pleasant and courteous demeanor.
    • Possess a cooperative spirit with management and desire to learn and improve performance.
    • Ability to follow federal, state and MHA labor policies and procedures.

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands

         

    • Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
    • Requires the ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday, squat, lift and carry loads, use hands and use arms for repetitive motions.  
    • Requires the ability to see, hear, and talk.    
    • Requires ability to work safely around cold environments like the fridge and freezer.

    Additional Requirements/Skills

     

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
    • Ability to become ServeSafe Certified.
    • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
