    Seasonal Part-Time



    Position Objective:


    Day Camp Counselors are responsible to model a genuine Christian lifestyle to primary youth, providing campers safety and well-being while befriending campers to nurture spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum.


    Key Job Accountabilities:


    • Responsible for the physical and spiritual welfare of campers through discipline and guidance of campers
    • Responsible to coordinate with Day Camp Team Leader the implementation of a variety of camp activities and curriculum
    • Responsible to lead and assist in crafts, music, drama, group games, etc.
    • Responsible to share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas including workspaces and supplies clean and orderly
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    • None


    General Qualifications:


    A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Of strong moral character and integrity.




    • High school graduate preferred
    • Some college experience preferred
    • CPR/First Aid certified preferred


    Work Experience:


    • Prior experience with Day Camp is preferred
    • Prefer prior experience in leadership roles in camp settings


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • Preferred previous experience working with children
    • Emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility
    • Must be able to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Must be prepared to problem solve on the job

    Key Job Accountabilities

    Physical Demands:


    The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking, shouting, ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15-60 lbs., and engage in general physical play with children.  


    Additional Requirements:


    • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
    • May be required to work with campers with special needs through our 1-on-1 program in assisting them physically, cognitively, and emotionally as they engage the camp experience in a way best suited to their individual needs.
    • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
