Regular Part-Time 20-35 Hours Weekly 

Position Objective

The Food Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for all food retail inventory and stock, in addition to facility and equipment upkeep for the Conference Center Fountain and Espresso Cart, Redwood Camp Snack Shop, and Ponderosa Camp Snack Shop. They will ensure exceptional food retail service is provided to guests in a welcoming, seamless and professional manner while maintaining a standard of excellence. The ultimate aim is to bless and minister to guests and staff in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

Key Job Accountabilities

• Receive and appropriately store and cycle all food retail deliveries.
• Track inventory of all food retail merchandise, supplies, and products, and assist with ordering as needed.
• Maintain and manage the product/sales database and registry. Complete a quarterly physical inventory count.
• Assist in stocking the various food retail sites by delivering merchandise and supplies.
• Work closely with the Food Retail Manager, other departments, and outside contractors to schedule and complete regular equipment and facility maintenance including on-going equipment care, seasonal maintenance, and deep cleaning.
• Complete deposits and manage cash drawers for applicable food retail sites.
• Attend and participate in the weekly food retail leadership team meeting to address upcoming groups and changes, discuss staff issues, develop the food retail program and staff, and engage in spiritual formation.
• Complete scheduling, ordering, manage day-to-day operations, and attend BEO meetings during times the Food Retail Manager is absent.
• Enforce and abide by all policies and service standards, including State, Federal and Local labor laws as well as MHA and Food Service Policies and Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• The Food Retail Assistant Manager will have direct supervisory responsibilities for personnel who are assigned to help complete various stocking, inventory, deep cleaning, and operational tasks, including, but not limited to, monitoring, organizing, directing, and motivating up to 5 food retail workers at a time. Assigned staff could include:
• Fountain Clerks
• Espresso Cart Baristas
• Summer Staff

Education

• Some college required; degree preferred.

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ food retail experience or related customer service experience.
• Some supervisory/management experience preferred.

• Ability to maintain a gracious, calm, and pleasant demeanor and adapt to changing priorities and situations while under pressure.
• Ability to improvise and provide creative solutions as problems and complications arise.
• Ability to motivate, encourage, develop, and minister to a dynamic, part-time and entry-level staff, as well as actively facilitate staff growth professionally, personally, and spiritually.
• Ability to work with a large and diverse group of staff and guests.
• Must be highly detail oriented and possess excellent time management skills.
• Ability to be flexible and easily shift with changing variables and circumstances.
• Ability to prioritize various tasks and to organize and provide direction to staff.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory/sales management programs.

Physical Demands

• Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
• Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, with ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Requires ability to work at a computer and be on your feet for extended periods.

Additional Requirements/Skills

• California Food Handler’s Certification.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including summers, weekdays, weekends, evening and night shifts, and most major holidays (closed for Christmas).
• Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed.
