Overview

Casual Part-Time 0-24 hours weekly

 

Position Objective:

 

The Bookshop Assistant sells and promotes books, as well as other Bookshop retail items, while keeping the Bookshop clean and orderly to ensure the Bookshop provides the best customer service in a clean and welcoming environment and in a manner consistent with MHA mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Greet and assist Bookshop guests and complete sales transactions at point of sale to create a hospitable shopping environment for customers.
  • Receive and stock books and merchandise in a timely manner to ensure a neat and orderly shop.
  • Operate computer software to reconcile daily sales.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:


A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”)  mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.  

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate

  • College experience

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Customer service experience preferred



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

  • Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, etc.
  • Some lifting required- up to 30 pounds for a maximum of 50 feet.
  • Requires standing for long periods
  • Requires moving merchandise/boxes between MHA sites.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
