Overview

Seasonal Part-Time

 

 

Position Objective:

 

Childcare Counselors are responsible to provide safety and well-being while befriending children (infants-kindergarten) to nurture spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Responsible for the physical and spiritual welfare of campers through discipline and guidance of children
  • Responsible to provide clear and open communication with parents regarding their child’s/children’s well-being with special attention to health, safety and discipline.
  • Responsible to lead and assist in crafts, music, drama, group games, etc.
  • Responsible to share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas including workspaces and supplies clean and orderly
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  • None

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate preferred
  • Some college experience preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certified preferred

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Prior experience with working with children in ministry settings
  • Prefer prior experience in leadership roles in childcare setting

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Preferred previous experience working with children
  • Love for children of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model to children.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Must be able to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking, and dancing.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • May be required to work with campers with special needs through our 1-on-1 program in assisting them physically, cognitively, and emotionally as they engage the camp experience in a way best suited to their individual needs.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
