Casual Part-Time 0-40 hours weekly

 

Position Objective:

 

The Ponderosa Cook is responsible for preparing high quality and nutritious meals for guests at Ponderosa Lodge in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Assist in preparing all components of the meals and snacks, in accordance with the recipes and standards.
  • Handle and store food products properly and safely, according to industry guidelines.
  • Be prepared to serve all meals on time.
  • Present the food to the guests in an eye-appealing manner.
  • Clean, organize and sanitize dishes and kitchen after each meal is served.
  • Be prepared to take direction from supervisor on any other duties assigned during your shift.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:  

 

Ability to respect the Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • California Food Handlers Card (within 30 days of date of hire).

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 1 year of food service experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic food handling at all stages of preparation and storage.
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment in a safe manner, including dish machine, knives, and ovens.
  • Possess a cooperative spirit and a desire to learn and improve skill set.
  • Ability to learn to clean kitchen and dishes in an organized and effective manner.
  • Fluency in English is a must.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

  • Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a dish machine and handle knives in a safe manner.

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Adherence to basic rule and standards expressed in Mount Hermon mission statement.
  • Adherence to dress code as explained by Supervisor.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as the ability to provide proof of legal ability to work in the Unites States.
