Regular Part-Time 20-35 hours weekly

 

Position Objective

 

The General Maintenance II Painter position is responsible for the safe and functional operation of the physical improvements of the MHA facilities and equipment as required, maintaining MHA buildings and grounds to a high level of excellence to ensure an outstanding and life transforming guest experience in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.  

 

Key Job Accountabilities

 

  • Maintain the exterior and interior finishes of all structural units to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Maintain and repair heating and air conditioning systems, boiler systems, refrigeration systems and plumbing systems to ensure a safe and pleasing environment for all staff and guests.
  • Analyze, correct, and upgrade electrical problems to ensure electrical systems are working safely and properly.  
  • Maintain facility-wide locks and keys system to ensure a safe and worry free environment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections and oversee the safe operations of equipment, heavy equipment, tools, and systems to ensure a safe and pleasing environment.
  • Work with contractors and volunteers on projects from inception to completion to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner, on budget and per the contracted terms.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May be called on from time to time to oversee the work of volunteers or part time staff during specific projects.

Qualifications

General Qualifications


A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

Education

 

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with exterior and interior painting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Must have documented experience in maintaining and improving an extensive assortment of building, grounds, and equipment.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • General construction skills (wood frame building, electrical wiring and circuitry, plumbing, concrete work, asphalt work, painting, large water main trenching and piping).
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems that support construction (heating and air, telephone, low voltage controls, water and sewer system operation, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision.
  • Ability to use a personal computer/SMART phone or similar mobile device for basic functions such as time clock use and work request completions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and added duties on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

 

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. continually over the course of the workday without limitation and be physically able to meet the demands of various intensive labor duties as listed under “Key Job Accountabilities.”

 

Additional Requirements/Skills

 

  • Availability for scheduled “on-call” shifts 24hours/day to cover unforeseen emergencies.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Willingness to attend training classes or seminars as directed by the Maintenance Manager and the Director of Facilities and Property.
  • Adherence to company dress code (MHA provided work shirts) and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record based on MHA’s driver qualifications guidelines.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
