Overview

Casual Part-Time 0-35 hours weekly

 

Position Objective:

 

To support the Accommodations Department in the goal to provide clean, tidy, well-maintained accommodations for our guests by inspecting all units prior to guest arrival in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.  

 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Inspect all cleaned cabins and rooms using designated checklist to ensure rooms are up to hotel standards and follow up with necessary corrections.
  • Change light bulbs and shower curtains as needed.  
  • Report all deep cleaning, custodial and maintenance needs, including path trimming and gutter cleaning when needed.
  • Write work order requests in regards to general maintenance issues
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action necessary.
  • Check room attendant’s closet for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness or mechanical problems.
  • Reports any safety hazards or violations immediately and follow all designated safety rules and procedures
  • Adhere to Lost and Found policy, and deliver all items to Housekeeping Office found in rooms, cabins or linen closets.
  • Organize and direct deep cleaning teams.
  • Release units to registration when ready.
  • Assist in returning furniture to the proper location as needed.
  • Report feedback to Accommodations Manager regarding room attendant performance and assist in identifying retraining needs.
  • Various special projects as requested by the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Supervision:

 

This position does not supervise other employees or volunteers.

 

Qualifications

General Qualifications:


A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education:

 

High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Minimum 2 years in the workforce.
  • Previous housekeeping work experience helpful.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, direct performance of assigned staff and follow up where needed.  Ability to work under pressure.  
  • Initiative to strive for excellence in all duties.  Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.  
  • Ability to maintain departmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment and knowledge of proper and safe chemical handling.  
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.  

Key Job Accountabilities

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of this position as described in Key Accountabilities.
  • Endurance to do physically demanding work, ability to kneel, squat, climb stairs and lift a minimum of 25 pounds is essential.
  • Constant walking required throughout shift.
  • Direct exposure to outside temperatures, including during the heat of summer.

Additional Requirements/Skills:

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Applicant must be available to work weekends and holidays during the summer. 
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
