Position Objective:


Assist the lead cook in preparing high quality and nutritious meals in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


Key Job Accountabilities:


  • Assist in preparing meals by specified mealtime deadlines.
  • Follow recipes to ensure consistent flavor and quality.
  • Prepare amounts indicated on production sheets to prevent waste.
  • Follow all safe food handling practices.
  • Present the food to the guests in an eye-appealing manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities


General Qualifications:  

Ability to respect the Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Of strong moral character and integrity.




  • High School Grad or equivalent.

Work Experience:


  • Minimum one year of food service experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • Knowledge of basic math for recipe conversion.
  • Ability to use basic kitchen utensils.
  • Self-directed with ability to work without constant supervision.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
  • Ability to use a variety of kitchen tools, equipment and utensils, including sharp objects,


Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends along with a flexible schedule.
  • Must have a valid California Food Handler’s Card.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Be able to remain calm in high energy kitchen setting
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
