Overview

Position Objective:

 

The Facility Assistant is responsible to help maintain the continued safe and functional operation of the physical aspects of Mount Hermon’s Kidder Creek during the summer season to offer campers and staff comfortable and well-kept facilities and grounds, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  •      Perform basic maintenance tasks to provide functional facilities for campers and staff as directed.
  •      Mow grass and maintain landscaping when necessary to offer campers and staff an exceptional visual experience.
  •      Maintain equipment and vehicles when necessary to ensure they are functional and safe.
  •      Direct staff or volunteers in fulfilling specific tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  •      Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

Does not supervise employees or volunteers.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education:

 

High School Graduate.

 

Work Experience:

 

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in general maintenance and repairs.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • General construction skills (wood frame building, electrical wiring, plumbing, concrete work, painting, water main piping) and the mechanical systems and equipment that support such construction.
  • Ability to evaluate and problem solve maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and common sense when working with equipment, around people, or fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions.

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

 

  • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday, squat, reach, lift and carry loads, and use hands and arms for repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and be physically able to meet the demands of various duties.
  • Ability to spend long hours outside and in a variety of weather conditions.
  • May be lifting and manipulating heavy objects, and may be in the proximity of sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment.

 

Additional Requirements/Skills:

 

  • Ability to work flexible days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and “on call” shifts.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as the ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
