Overview

Regular Part-Time 20-35 hours weekly

 

Position Objective:

  • Under supervision of the Executive Chef, the Lead Cook directs all aspects of hot and cold food preparation. The Lead Cook is responsible to direct and lead the cook team to produce high quality food and exceed customer satisfaction in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • The Lead Cook reports to the Production Manager/Executive Chef and will have a close working relationship with all members of the Food Service Team.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs. Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. Of strong moral character and integrity.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school education, Culinary school preferred

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in high volume food service or restaurant cooking is preferred.
  • Excellent knife skills required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to cook and prepare a variety of foods in a clean and sanitary manner. Must have a working knowledge of menu development, recipe development, principles of cooking, presentation, portion control & costing. Demonstrated ability to produce delicious, appetizing meals.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others. Able to deal with stressful situations in a pleasant and courteous manner. Able to take direction and give direction to achieve food service goals.
  • Must adhere to company dress code and professional standards of personal hygiene. Position requires professional demeanor, responsible practices, self-motivation, and a high energy level.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and Holidays with a flexible schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

The Lead Cook requires periodic supervision; often exercises independent judgment and initiative. Supervises moderately skilled employees or volunteers.

Physical Demands:

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, ability to lift/carry 30 lbs.
