Position Objective:

Lifeguards provide instruction, supervision, and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers and staff involved in all water-based activities at Mount Hermon in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.


Key Job Accountabilities


  • Responsible to act as a first responders in events of injury
  • Responsible to provide a safe environment (physically, mentally, and emotionally) for guests to enjoy aquatic activities
  • Provides supervision of aquatic activities at Mount Hermon
  • Accountable for upholding and enforcing pool rules to ensure safety of all using the pool
  • Responsible for performing the certified lifeguard activities while working at Mount Hermon in a professional and productive manner at the pool as well as away from the pool
  • Responsible to assist, Aquatics Team Lead and other lifeguards with daily, weekly, and monthly pool maintenance
  • Responsible to maintain, document and report any damaged operating equipment and facilities
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Work Experience


  • None required, but Lifeguarding experience would be preferred

Key Job Accountabilities

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • The employee is frequently required to run, swim, stand, sit for long periods and use steep trails and stairs
  • The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl
  • The physical environment requires the employee to talk and hear both in person from close and long distances and by phone or radio
  • The employee may be required to lift, push or pull persons or equipment over 100 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, use of both eyes, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades; depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Additional Requirements/Skills:

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance
  • Attend monthly in-service training meetings: come prepared to practice in and out of water.
  • Swim 300 yards any stroke in under 7 minutes and train towards a 6 minute or less time
  • Tread water for 2 minutes with feet only
  • Enter water appropriately, swim 20 yards, retrieve a brick submerged 8 feet deep, return to starting point with brick out of water and exit the water in under 1 minute 40 seconds
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
