Regular Part-Time 30 hours weekly

 

Position Objective:

The Youth Facilities Worker II position assists MHA in its ministry goals of serving our guests by keeping the physical facilities clean, attractive and functional in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Assist in preparation of facilities for camps and conferences to serve the needs of our campers and guest groups.
  • Clean facilities during events and camps and assist in fulfilling our guests’ needs concerning the facility and accommodations in order to offer a comfortable and enjoyable environment.
  • Work on assigned maintenance tasks, which may include: carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall, landscaping, concrete, tree removal, light electrical, roofing, carpet cleaning, window washing, pressure-washing walkways, hauling debris to dump, stocking fire wood, etc. to keep the facilities looking their best on an ongoing basis.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set forth by MHA, as well as equipment & supply manufacturers to maintain a safe work environment for all.
  • Report all safety hazards or unsafe practices to supervisor or appropriate department head to ensure the prevention of accidents and to preserve each individual’s health and safety.
  • Properly maintain all assigned tools, equipment and vehicles in consideration for the next person who will use the tools, equipment or vehicle and to ensure they are available when needed.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

Occasionally supervises volunteer groups and unskilled seasonal employees.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

 

A mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith.  Fully in accord with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, values and statement of beliefs.  Committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization.  Of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education:

 

  • High school / GED; AA in vocational/trade technologies preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience as a tradesperson strong in carpentry, painting, and finish work, competent in basic electrical and plumbing preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools: power drill, circular saw, air nail gun, and adhesives/paints/stains.
  • Ability to safely operate the shop tools of the trades: table saw, chop saw, drill press, grinder, sander, etc.
  • Ability to install lights and outlets; ability to pull a circuit from a breaker panel.
  • Knowledge of basic cabinetry and installation of toilet stalls, toilets, vanities and showers.
  • Ability to install sink/shower/toilet plumbing and fixture sets.
  • Ability to work independently from a pre-determined list or project plans.
  • Ability to give proper attention to detail and safety.
  • Ability to read plans and/or designs/build basic carpentry projects such as deck, vanities, stairs and fencing.

Physical Demands

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Requires standing and walking on uneven surfaces and hilly terrain, and climbing up/down stairs and ladders.
  • Additional requirements include sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to safely and properly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required.
  • Ability to use hands and reach with hands and arms.

Additional Requirements/Skills

 

  • Conduct all work in a safe manner at all times. Will not use tools or conduct potentially dangerous operations until specifically trained in how to safely complete the tasks. May be requested to take some “On-Call” shifts and carry the “On-Call” cell phone in order to respond to emergency maintenance activities after hours or on weekends.

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
