Overview

Part-Time 0-30 hours weekly

 

 

Position Objective:

 

The Kitchen Assistant at Ponderosa Lodge will clean dishes and assist the cooks with food preparation to offer high quality food products and service to Ponderosa Lodge guests, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 



Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Ensures dishes are sanitized and available as needed.
  • Place clean dishware, glassware, silverware and pot/pans in specified shelves according to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Assist the cooks with food preparation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

Non-ministerial staff who serve in operational and service support roles are not required to affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, they are expected in the course of their employment to respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Non-ministerial staff join into our community life of prayer, worship and spiritual activity, including but not limited to staff meetings, attendance at programs, Bible Study, and staff gatherings. 



Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Minimum two years’ High School.

 

Work Experience:

  • None required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly learn how to safely operate a dish machine.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and appropriately.
  • Ability to hear well in a loud environment in order to respond to employee needs.
  • Ability to work well both in a team atmosphere and independently. Fluency in English required.

Additional Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand continually for 4-5 hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs. 

 

Additional Requirements/Skills:

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and PM shifts.
  • Adherence to Mount Hermon standards for guest service.
